Chandrayaan-3

Chandrayaan-3 was the third Indian lunar exploration mission operated by the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Chandrayaan programme.

It included a lander called Vikram and a rover called Pragyan, similar in design to the previous failed Chandrayaan-2 mission. The propulsion module carried the lander and rover configuration into lunar orbit before the powered descent by the lander.

Chandrayaan-3 was launched on 14 July 2023 and the lander and rover landed in the region of the lunar south pole on 23rd August 2023

This successful landing made India the first country to land a spacecraft near the lunar south pole, and the fourth country to soft-land on the Moon.
